There's a huge book Square release, called the "Essence of SaGa", that covers the entire development of the game, including when it was at one point called Romancing SaGa 4. God, it's a game of so many "what it could've been". Even the Battle Rank system is bugged, badly, and can lock instead of increasing like it should (which speed runners try to take advantage of this glitch).ĭoes it make it a bad game? No, not in the slightest, but out of every SaGa game, besides probably Romancing SaGa 1, it's probably the one released in the most incomplete state compared to anything else. Plus there's missing areas, a lot of dummied out content, and the battle system is nowhere near finished. While II still is missing some content, at least it's largely feature complete with minor missing story contents, where almost all of Asellus's story was gutted due to time, Lute's story is non-existent and was supposed to be the "unlockable" story, and Fuse's story was completely scrapped (with only minor remnants of his story left in the final game). Would be trivially easy on Softcore mode, but frustrating on Hardcore.SaGa Frontier also is significantly more incomplete than SaGa Frontier II.
